Polycam vs Roomersive
Polycam 3D-scans a space with a phone. Roomersive restyles a photo and builds a 360° walkthrough. Compare capture, restyle, and which job each actually does.
Polycam and Roomersive both live in a phone and both produce something you can look around in. They are not substitutes. Polycam is a capture app: you walk the room (LiDAR on supported devices, photogrammetry otherwise) and get a mesh, Gaussian splat, or similar artifact of the space as it is. Roomersive never scans. It restyles a still, then generates a walkthrough of that restyled room.

Capture versus proposal
If the job is "measure this kitchen" or "show the current loft as a 3D model," Polycam is in the right category, next to other phone scanners. The current furniture, the current mess, and the current empty corners all come along for the ride. That is honest documentation.
If the job is "this listing is vacant / dated / over-personalized, and I need a buyer to feel a furnished room by Friday," walking a scanner through it documents the problem. Roomersive's walkthrough is a proposal: layout stays, style changes, then you stand in the proposal.

When to choose Polycam
- You can physically walk the room and you want a model of this interior
- Measurements, exports, or a splat of current conditions are the deliverable
- Restyling is out of scope (or happens in another tool on top of stills)
When to choose Roomersive
- You only have listing photos, or you cannot get into the property with a scanning workflow
- The interior must change before anyone should tour it
- You need a public look-around link plus, on Studio, MLS disclosure on the still
A team can own both: Polycam for as-built, Roomersive for as-proposed. Searching "Polycam alternative" when you meant "tour without scanning" is a category error — Polycam alternative is written for the people who actually meant that.
